This 2-minute video offers a brief look at the journey of discovery that children experience making music and movement the Orff-Schulwerk way. Be sure to watch the video of an Orff class in action for a more detailed explanation of Orff Schulwerk!
What is Orff Schulwerk?
How did Carl Orff co-found Studio 49?
×
“Carl Orff had been sitting at his grand piano and playing several sequences.
He asked my father to build instruments to imitate those special sounds.
That’s where Studio 49 instruments began.”– Bernd Becker-Ehmck, 2nd Generation Owner Studio 49 through 2023

I loved the video, it was so professional, I can see why the parents and family members enjoyed seeing their students perform. I enjoy the Orff Schulwerk lessons sent to my school emails from time to time. Thank you for sharing your creativity and lessons :} Nancy

Can you start a musically inclined 18-month old toddler on an Orff instrument?
And if so, how do you suggest doing this?-
Hi Stephanie! We applaud your desire to encourage music making at such a young age, but we would not recommend starting a toddler on this type of instrument other than free play. For a child so young, we suggest musical toys at home as well as local early childhood music programs that will allow him/her to practice music making in a group. – Your friends at Teaching With Orff
